Job Summary

The Onsite Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day management, co-ordination, and operation of the Avantor Services Team on our customer’ site (NE BioLabs). The position is also responsible for health and safety requirements, training/compliance and line management of the Avantor staff to ensure delivery of a high-quality service to our customer, is a liaise with other suppliers, senior stakeholders and the science community ensuring continuity of contracted services by measuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The position will assist and be supported by higher level supervisors and managers.

Schedule: Mon - Fri, day shifts
Sign-On Bonus: $5000, half of which will pay out after 90 days and the second half after 180 days of employment

What does the position do?

  • Leads team efforts as well as performs work provided in SOW related to customer requirements.

  • Coaches and motivates team members to effectively perform job requirements and to meet and exceed goals and objectives. Encourages through mentoring, as well as supporting individual, professional and team growth.

  • Management of open order status reports, customer, metrics and department reports, and SOP/SOW maintenance.

  • Provides training and development as well as back-up to associates to perform required tasks.

  • Performs administrative duties such as associate performance appraisals, succession planning, timecard review, vacation scheduling, etc.

  • Crafts and maintains critical metrics.

  • Acts as a liaison between customer and Avantor.

  • Ensures GxP Compliance and Good Documentation Practices.

  • Brings value to the customer from personal development in the industry.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What do you need to have? (required)

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Previous experience leading associates.

  • 1+ years experience supervising people.

  • 4+ years customer services, purchasing, and/or account management experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Valid Drivers License and transportation.

  • COVID 19 & flu vaccinated.

  • Knowledge of ERP Systems; Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and basic understanding of Access.

  • Purchasing and inventory knowledge.

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to display a professional can-do demeanor.

  • High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies and procedures.

  • Must be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task oriented.

  • Strong self-managing and self-motivating skills.

  • Proficient in trouble shooting and forward thinking.

  • Ability to make sound business decisions with limited consultation with manager.

  • Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, and security clearances.

  • Long-term potential with Avantor.

What would be nice to have? (desired but not required)

  • 3+ years of supervisor or people management experience.

  • Associates degree or undergraduate degree in business or science related field.

  • Forklift Certification.

  • Spill containment, IATA, DOT, IMDG and Hazwoper training.

  • CPR training and OSHA Right to Know knowledge.

  • Inside sales experience and cross-referencing skills.

What are the working conditions like?
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level. Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems. Minimal physical effort is required. Work requires walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that may weigh up to 50lbs.
